1. Bathing on the Day of Jumuah is Compulsory

عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏ "‏ غُسْلُ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ وَاجِبٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُحْتَلِمٍ ‏"

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ):

Allah's Messenger (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) said, "Taking a bath on Friday is compulsory for every Muslim (Man and Woman) who has attained the age of puberty."

Note: It is compulsory to take complete ghusl (ritual bath) on the day of Jumuah even if you are not in the state of Janabah as mentioned in the Hadeeth of Ibn Abbas Narrated by Tawus in Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadeeth No.884...

2. Using Miswak and Perfume is a Recommended Sunnah

حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ الأَنْصَارِيُّ، قَالَ أَشْهَدُ عَلَى أَبِي سَعِيدٍ قَالَ أَشْهَدُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏ "‏ الْغُسْلُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَاجِبٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُحْتَلِمٍ، وَأَنْ يَسْتَنَّ وَأَنْ يَمَسَّ طِيبًا إِنْ وَجَدَ ‏"

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ):

I testify that Allah's Messenger (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) said, "The taking of a bath on Friday is compulsory for every Muslim who has attained the age of puberty and the cleaning of his teeth with Siwak, and the using of perfume if it is available."

3. Tremendous Rewards of Walking to Jumuah Prayer

حَدَّثَنِي أَوْسُ بْنُ أَوْسٍ الثَّقَفِيُّ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ ‏ "‏ مَنْ غَسَّلَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَاغْتَسَلَ ثُمَّ بَكَّرَ وَابْتَكَرَ وَمَشَى وَلَمْ يَرْكَبْ وَدَنَا مِنَ الإِمَامِ فَاسْتَمَعَ وَلَمْ يَلْغُ كَانَ لَهُ بِكُلِّ خُطْوَةٍ عَمَلُ سَنَةٍ أَجْرُ صِيَامِهَا وَقِيَامِهَا ‏"

Narrated Aws ibn Aws ath-Thaqafi (رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ):

I heard the Messenger of Allah (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) say: “If anyone makes (his wife) wash and he washes himself on Friday, goes out early (for prayer), walking, not riding, takes his seat near the imam, listens attentively, and does not indulge in idle talk, he will get the reward of a year's fasting and standing in prayer at night for every step he takes.

Ash-Shaykh Al-Albani Declared it as Saheeh in His Book Saheeh Sunan Abi Dawood Hadeeth No.373

4. Do Not Separate Two People Sitting in The Masjid

عَنْ سَلْمَانَ الْفَارِسِيِّ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ "‏ مَنِ اغْتَسَلَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ، وَتَطَهَّرَ بِمَا اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْ طُهْرٍ، ثُمَّ ادَّهَنَ أَوْ مَسَّ مِنْ طِيبٍ، ثُمَّ رَاحَ فَلَمْ يُفَرِّقْ بَيْنَ اثْنَيْنِ، فَصَلَّى مَا كُتِبَ لَهُ، ثُمَّ إِذَا خَرَجَ الإِمَامُ أَنْصَتَ، غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْجُمُعَةِ الأُخْرَى ‏"

Narrated Salman Al-Farsi (رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ):

Allah's Messenger (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) said, "Anyone who takes a bath on Friday and cleans himself as much as he can and puts oil (on his hair) and scents himself; then proceeds for the prayer and does not force his way between two persons (assembled in the mosque for the Friday prayer), and prays as much as is written for him and remains quiet when the Imam delivers the Khutba, all his sins in between the present and the last Friday will be forgiven."

5. Prohibition of Speaking During the Jumuah Khuthbah

أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏ "‏ إِذَا قُلْتَ لِصَاحِبِكَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ أَنْصِتْ‏.‏ وَالإِمَامُ يَخْطُبُ فَقَدْ لَغَوْتَ ‏"

Narrated Abu Huraira (رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ):

Allah's Messenger (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) said, "When the Imam is delivering the Khutba, and you ask your companion to keep quiet and listen, then surely you have done an evil act."

6. Reward of Reading Surah Al-Kahf on The Day of Jumuah

عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ قَرَأَ سُورَةَ الْكَهْفِ فِي يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ أَضَاءَ لَهُ مِنَ النُّورِ مَا بَيْنَ الْجُمُعَتَيْنِ

Narrated Abu Sa’id al-Khudri (رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ):

The Messenger of Allah (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) said, “Whoever recites Surat al-Kahf on Friday, a light will shine for him between this Friday and the next.”

7. Reward of Sending an Abundance of Salwath Upon the Prophet On the Day of Jumuah

عن أنَسٍ قال: قال رسولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ "أكثروا الصلاة علي يوم الجمعة وليلة الجمعة فمن صلى علي صلاة صلى الله عليه عشرا"

Anas Ibn Malik Narrated (رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ):

The Messenger of Allah (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) said, “Increase the sending of blessings upon me on the day and night of Friday, for whoever sends a blessing upon me, Allah will bless him tenfold.”

Ash-Shaykh Al-Albani Declared it as Saheeh in His Book Saheeh Al-Jaami’ Hadeeth No.1209

Note: The way to say salawath upon the Prophet (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) is mentioned in the Hadeeth of Ka’ab ibn Ujrah and it is as follows: “Allahumma Salli Ala Muhammadin Wa Ala Aali Muhammadin Kama Sallaitha Ala Ibrahima Wa Ala Aali Ibrahima Innaka Hameedun Majeed” (Saheeh Al-Bukhari 3370)

8. The Hour of Response On the Day of Jumuah

عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّهُ قَالَ ‏"‏ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ ثِنْتَا عَشْرَةَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ يُرِيدُ سَاعَةً ‏"‏ لاَ يُوجَدُ مُسْلِمٌ يَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ شَيْئًا إِلاَّ آتَاهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَالْتَمِسُوهَا آخِرَ سَاعَةٍ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ ‏"

Jaabir Ibn Abdullah Narrated (رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ):

The Messenger of Allah (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) said, “Friday is divided into twelve hours. Amongst them there is an hour in which a Muslim does not ask Allah for anything but He gives it to him. So seek it in the last hour after the afternoon prayer.”

Ash-Shaykh Al-Albani Declared it as Saheeh in His Book Saheeh Sunan Abi Dawood Hadeeth No.963

Note: Although there is an opinion according to the hadeeth of Abu Burdah ibn Abi Moosa Al-Ash’ari in Saheeh Muslim that the hour of response is between the time when imam sits in the minbar and till the end of the prayer, the most correct opinion is the last part of Asr. This opinion is accepted by Abdullah Ibn Salam, Abu Hurayrah as witnessed from the Hadeeth of Abu Salamah ibn Abdur Rahman From Abu Hurayrah recorded in Sunan Abi Dawood Hadeeth No.1406 and the hadeeth of Abdullah Ibn Salam in Sunan Ibn Majah 1139 indicates the Messenger of Allah directly pointing out the time as last part of Asr. Both the hadeeth are classified as Saheeh by Ash-Shaykh Al-Albani.
